The Ohio Floor Company can trace its origins back to the early 1960’s, when George Bear, of Sugarcreek, founded Bear Floor Sanding. The primary business of the company at that time was installing and refinishing residential and gymnasium hardwood floors.
In 1983, the company was purchased by Steve Yoder and became Mid-Ohio Hardwood Floors. MOHF grew steadily and continued to expand the installations of high-end hardwood maple gym floors. In 2005, Mid-Ohio Hardwood Floors was renamed The Ohio Floor Company to encompass the many types of flooring we install.
Today, The Ohio Floor Company is comprised of the following divisions: Residential, Commercial/Sports Flooring, Portable Gym Floors, and Graphic Arts.
In the mid 2000’s we partnered with the Connor Sports Floors to become a certified dealer and preferred contractor for them. Connor Sports is a leading manufacturer of sports floor systems. Through this relationship, we’ve had the opportunity to work on some high-profile jobs, including tournament floors and major University floors.
Our Commercial/Sports Flooring Division has the privilege of working in an average of 300+ high school, college/university, and community/recreational facilities every year. Installing new floors, resurfacing existing floors, and doing yearly maintenance.
The Portable Floor Division of the Ohio Floor Company in conjunction with Connor Sports Floors and other major industry players has grown over the past decade. An example of a few of the new sports floors we’ve supplied are: Villanova University, Syracuse University, WNBA Mohegan Suns, NBA Brooklyn Nets, NBA Philadelphia 76ers, NBA Boston Celtics, Men’s and Women’s NCAA Final Four.
